The collection contains a series of newsletters or flyers published in 1946 and 1952 by the Passive Resistance Council of the Natal Indian Congress, the Passive Resistance Council of the Transvaal Indian Congress, and jointly by the African National Congress and Natal Indian Congress. During the 1946 Passive Resistance Campaign, two separate Flashes were published by the Passive Resistance Councils of the Natal and Transvaal Indian Congresses. A new series of Flash, published by the African National Congress and Natal Indian Congress together with copies of three issues of Afrika Newsletter, date from the 1952 Defiance Campaign.
